Composting

We are currently using the food waste from our cafeteria for composting. To compost, you only need to have some greens and browns. Greens include things like food waste, coffee grounds, egg shells etc. And browns include twigs, grass clippings, sawdust etc. It's really easy to do! Remember to maintain a 50:50 ratio of greens and browns and add sufficient water! Don't forget to frequently mix it!

Raising Awareness

We will be introducing some educational games into GTS lessons, as well as inviting guest speakers every once in a while to provide some expert information! Furthermore, don't miss out on the videos, games and quizzes that will come out soon!

Plates and Bowls

New Meal Sizes

We will be negotiating with Chartwells so you won't be forced to finish a meal that is too large for you. Soon, we will be introducing different meal sizes at different prices, so you can order your ideal meal size!

Checklist

Pre-ordering system

We are planning to implement a new pre-ordering system that will eliminate the long cafeteria queues for you, and will mitigate the problem of food waste for everyone. The pre-ordering system consist of orders done a month prior. More importantly, this would allow the cafeteria to have a more accurate estimate of the amount of ingredients required - thus reducing the amount of unsold food.

Volunteers Serving Food

Food donation

Furthermore, thanks to Chartwells, food donations will happen at a weekly basis. This is a project that we will help monitor and improve. This means that the unsold food in our cafeteria will be sent to the people who need it!

Reward system

Lastly, we will be introducing a rebate system, where students will be rewarded for finishing their meals! With the system in place, students will be able to hand in their clean plates and get a reward.
